The world has become full of people complaining about how life is unfair to them. Life gives a fair share of troublesome situations to everyone. The question is, what determines the quality of life that we would lead. Some people get entangled in the blame game and hold the circumstances responsible for their failures, while others take the reins of life in their hands and lead the life in the direction they want to go. These are the people that go on to become famous leaders because once they become masters in their journeys they help others who are on the same road as they are. They do not move ahead to become proud and arrogant, rather they become compassionate and helpful towards those who are struggling with their journey.

There are numerous examples of such people who want to serve humanity beyond their individual endeavors. One such name is Mr. Chidi Topaz Olujie. Born in 1987, his journey has been a series of events of defeating the circumstances like a fighter. Currently, he is a Nigerian special educator and a philanthropist. Mr. Chidi is a politically active personality who also aims to run for the political office to represent the Ukwa-East Constituency at the Abia State House of Representatives in 2019, under the platform of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP). He has a highly decorated academic profile and is currently on the road to become a Doctor for Education.

All these achievements are enough for us to be inspired by Mr. Chidi, but the journey to this success was full of challenges. When Mr. Chidi was an infant, he lost his sense of hearing due to mumps. The doctors treated him for malaria instead of the actual disease, which led to complications, which resulted in hearing impairment. Mr. Chidi lost his sense of hearing in childhood, but that did not stop him from pursuing his ambitions. His journey to being such an accomplished human being is nothing short of inspiration.

His accomplishments were not limited to his personal growth only. He actively advocates for the rights of the disabled. He is currently the National Secretary of the Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) and currently serves as the national coordinator of the Coalition of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Even when Mr. Chidi has advanced politically and academically, by serving the disabled, he continues to bring smiles and joy to those who need it the most. He is a true inspiration and an example that adversities aren’t something to cry upon, but are stepping stones to move towards growth.
