Some people feel a deep void inside them, and no matter what they try in order to fulfill it, it is not easily satisfied. Many people have misconceptions about life, believing that happiness can be achieved by accumulating wealth and collecting material possessions. Such a mindset derails the reality of a fulfilling and gratifying life. People with this mindset have missed out on the primary objective of life, and instead adopted a lifestyle model imposed by a capitalist system. They believe that all they have to do is work for wealth, and they’ll lead a good life.

Pursuing a lifestyle that is completely consumed by things that do not really matter does not offer you the fulfillment that your spirit truly craves. A great many people in the world are unhappy with their lives even after reaching a handsome social status and acquiring wealth, finding these things ultimately did not bring them the kind of satisfaction they had dreamt of.

In this regard, a famous quote by the Hollywood actor, Jim Carrey, is quite relevant. Jim once said, “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.” This has proven to be quite true, no matter the arguments against it. Many people actually end up unhappy, and when they look back over their lives, their decisions, they are not able to point out what went wrong.

Commonly, the problem lies in neglecting our spiritual side. We get caught up in the mundane reality of life, confusing that with the path to real happiness. The truth is that we long for a sense of fulfillment and inner peace that does not come from lusting after material possessions or working to support a superficial lifestyle.

Many people sense that materialism is not the answer, and they seek out better ways of filling the void in their soul. They join support groups and find others who share the same sort of feelings. Ultimately, they discover that embracing spiritual awakening is the real path to fulfillment.

A practical way to begin this journey is to reorient yourself toward a lifestyle model that promotes spirituality. You can take up practices like contemplation and reflective journaling, offer prayers, and make a sacred pilgrimage. You can also read inspiring books on the subject of exploring spirituality. One such book is The Art of Surrender: A Practical Guide to Enlightened Happiness and Well-Being by Eiman Al Zaabi. Using her own experiences of spiritual seeking, Al Zaabi shares unique insights and guidance for the reader’s own journey. She is an established author and spiritual coach who has guided countless people in overcoming barriers, seeking the truth, and finding true fulfillment.
