Enhancing Healthcare through Innovation

Entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation are the driving forces behind advancements in healthcare.

Creativity is what drives innovation, which can come from anywhere and from any level within an organization. Innovation has become a necessity for healthcare now and in the future, especially when keeping in mind the growing demands being driven by the changes in patients’ needs.

Personalized patient care needs to be pursued, relying on science and technological advances as the core of healthcare innovation. Leaders in the healthcare industry and medical experts worldwide are constantly working toward developing an environment that can support and empowers teams and individuals to become more innovative and productive.

With such an environment in place, these individuals and teams are able to focus on their creativity, and by nurturing that mindset, they can be innovative in their work — driving their entrepreneurial spirit to its full potential. Such changes will also help them to apply core business principles to their work to bring about new inventions, products or services into commercially viable medical innovations that are bound to change the healthcare industry forever.

Innovation in healthcare has to become a widespread idea among people; in the past couple of decades, the healthcare industry has experienced a vast number of innovations that have resulted in improving life expectancy and enhancing the quality of life.

Ever since the industrial revolution healthcare innovations relied and resulted from scientific advances. It is easy to list such as many come to mind, such as X-rays, blood testing instruments, fiberoptics (the basis of colonoscopy), CAT scans, MRIs, ultrasound, and EKGs. It is only a matter of time when a new scientific, technological advance finds an application in health care.

Improvements in the healthcare are evidenced daily. The impact of COVID-19, where the effects of the virus had left everyone in a state of peril, provided a strong impetus for accelerated research and innovation. The demands of the aging population, and the experience of the virus, have led companies to adopt ways and methodologies to prepare for any future medical crisis.

Just look at the medical contributions made by Peter Sereny — a revered professional who is considered one of the most exceptional American scientists, engineers, physicians and entrepreneurs of our time.

After Sereny completed his postgraduate training as a Resident at the Icahn School of Medicine, he was appointed as the Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Attending Physician at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

Later on, he took on many roles in the medical industry — such as the Associate Medical Director at the Hartford Insurance Group, Founding Chief Medical Director at CIGNA HealthPlan, Editor-in-Chief of Medical Update, and attending physician at Hartford Hospital.

In 1986, he founded Health Information Systems, through which he developed and supported unique software and system solutions for the healthcare industry. Under his leadership, the company achieved market dominance in the United States. In that same year, Sereny tried his hand at real estate — he co-founded S&S, a real estate partnership acquiring and managing commercial real estate in the NorthEast US.

In 2012 he became the co-founder, CEO, Chairman, and Principal Broker of Brick&Mortar LLC — a full-service Brooklyn-based boutique real estate Brokerage. He has often been featured in Internal Medical News. Allergy and Immunology News and ObGyn News — sharing his diverse knowledge and becoming a role model for many aspiring medical professionals today.

In 2015 he founded RESoft LLC to deliver a comprehensive software solution for the real estate brokerage industry.
