Simple Tips for Dental Care
Taking care of your teeth can be problematic, therefore it’s important that you focus on it on a regular daily basis. Francois Bothma is an Australia dentist and an independent bishop who represents the Home Temple Group. In 2016, Dr Bothma acquired Kite Street Dental and continued his dental career in Orange, New South Wales. He has been actively sharing information and helping patients from all walks of life. He relocated from the United Kingdom during 2011 and brought invaluable international experience to his Australian practices. Teeth are one of the most important parts of your body and even though we often tend to think they are hard, strong and indestructible, they are much more delicate than they seem. Caring for them every day is essential to avoid oral problems that irreversibly deteriorate them.
If you want your teeth to be as healthy, strong, and resistant as possible, follow these simple tips:
Brush your teeth 2 times a day for at least 2 minutes. The health of your teeth starts with good hygiene, so don’t forget to brush after each meal.
Choose the products that best fit your mouth. Talk to your dentist to advise you on the hardness of the brush and the special needs of your mouth. Each mouth is different, and therefore, it is possible that the products that work well for your family are not the ones that best suit you.
Remember to replace your brush regularly. It is advisable to do it at least every three months or when the first signs of wear appear so that it is in the best condition.
With brushing alone, we manage to only clean 60% of the dental surfaces. The rest is made up of the areas between the teeth, often referred to as the interproximal area. It is in this area that food and bacteria accumulate, contributing to the oral biofilm (bacterial plaque). It is therefore important to clean this area daily by using dental floss or tape and if necessary interproximal brushes.
Watch your diet. Even though it is important to maintain good oral hygiene, a healthy diet with a low sugar content will contribute to a decrease in the potential to develop cavities.
Visit your dentist and dental hygienist regularly. A review at least every 6 months will help you maintain optimal oral health and prevent possible problems down the track.
And last but not least, pay attention to the advice you have heard from your parents so many times and do not open bags, packages, and bottles of water with your mouth. Your teeth are for life, so take care of them!
