When Passion Meets Profession: A Story of the Charismatic Durga Madiraju

Technology continues to expand its horizons with each passing year, and the field of software engineering is consequently on a growth trajectory. According to research by Gartner, investments on enterprise software is likely to increase by 8.3% in 2019. This is only one of the many aspects of software engineering that is increasing the demand for software engineers in play. This is why visionaries like Durga Madiraju opted for a degree in this field.

Durga acquired her MS in information systems from Eastern Michigan University. This was followed by a Master’s in Business Administration as well as an MA in economics. It’s safe to say that Durga was a master of multiple professions. The young girl from Hyderabad was a daughter to a doctor. Her father wanted her to follow his footsteps but watching the world of IT take its toll, both Durga and her parents agreed to enroll her in an engineering degree. Durga spent most of her childhood with her mother whom she was quite closely attached to. According to an interview with Durga, her mother was her support system. Not only did she support him, but also taught Durga to spend a happy and content life.

Although Durga had multiple degrees to her name, she chose to opt a career in software development, a field that interested her and has also been on quite a boom for the past several decades. She has worked in an array of positions as a software engineer. From being an expert in design to their maintenance and development, Durga has proved herself in all aspects of her jobs. Halfway through her career, she realized that to grow, even more, she had to unlock her veiled potential. Durga Madiraju became a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and Growth, Certified in HTML 5 and Certified in Lean.

What further polished her skills as a software engineer was her experience in multinational enterprises. Over the years, she has gained experience in software tools, process methodologies, and project management among other areas. In a nutshell, it is safe to state that Durga Madiraju has proved herself throughout her career. Even aside from her work life, Durga has managed to showcase her charisma through her captivating poetry. Her books, ‘An Artsy Life’ and ‘Seasonal Woods’ has gained a lot of recognition from her fans. Both books have received significant appreciation from experts, critics, and fans all over the country.

In addition to her successful career and charisma as a poet, Durga has also put her degree in Economics to use. Over the years, she has assisted worked in the capacity of a Research Associate at the Center for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) as well as the University of Hyderabad. Durga is the recipient of awards like ‘IT Wall of Stars Award’ and ‘Presidential Voluntary Service Award’, among others which were awarded to her at different occasions by her ex-employer AT&T. In short, whether it is her work as an engineer or her passion as a poet, Durga Madiraju has aced at everything she set her mind to throughout her life.
